Chateau Musar Hochar Red 2016
Chateau Musar Hochar Red 2016
A bright and rich Grenache dominant blend from Lebanon, held back for years, to provide an elegant evolved wine upon release.
About This Wine
Sometimes called the 2nd wine of Chateau Musar, the Hochar red, has much in common with their ‘Grand Vin’. Grenache dominant, with Cinsault and Cabernet filling out the blend, this is an elegant, interesting wine with so much going on.
From vines planted around 40 years ago at 1000+ metres in the Beka’a Valley, it’s a rich spicy and aromatic wine, that is emblematic of Lebanese robust reds. Lots of smooth bramble fruit flavours, with hints of figs, dates and cedary spice.
Mostly from a single organically farmed vineyard near the village of Aana in the Valley, this wine, as with most wines from Musar, has plenty of time yet to evolve in bottle, however due to its long maturation in both barrel and bottle before release, is ripe and ready, to take to the sky.
